About
What started as a way to help Sophia be more confident and comfortable with owning her Cerebral Palsy and who she was after struggling with her mental health has blossomed from just an Instagram account to also a blog!
Named after Sophia's Instagram, Skye Full of Stories was named using Sophia's middle name Skye and with Sophia's passion for storytelling - sharing both her own personal story along with other people's stories.
Influenced by Sophia's personal experiences, Skye Full of Stories is a disability and mental health awareness blog dedicated to empowering and helping people with disabilities and mental health struggles feel included and not alone. Sophia's mission is to help those living a disability or mental health struggle to feel included, connected, supported, respected, confident, valued, and understood.

Sophia's Story
Due to complications from Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome, Sophia was born 3 months early to the day. She wasn't even expected to make it through the night. She did, but she had a grade four bleed in her brain which subsided but caused her to have mild spastic Cerebral Palsy right hemiplegia (CP) or what she calls a right sided weakness. However, she is a very determined person in life. She has learned not to see her CP as a weakness, but instead know that it makes her her.

As a person with mild Cerebral Palsy, she has always had to push herself because it does present certain challenges at times. She doesn't have the overall strength and balance that most people her age have. She also has a slower walking speed. She needs to be able to hold onto a railing to go up and down stairs and it takes her more time. Her CP can also impact her learning in the classroom, such as her executive functioning skills.
Sophia never thought she would be able to walk, ride a bike, swim, make a basket ball basket, tap dance, play softball, or play instruments: harp, piano, or the viola. These things never came easy to Sophia, but she learned to do them all!
She wants to be able to help others persevere through challenges by being a role model and showing them determination. She understands how it feels to be excluded and wants to help others feel included and valued.
